At Spring Media Design we take environmental considerations very seriously. We have implemented a number of initiatives to make our service greener and more sustainable without compromising on performance or price. We approach this by avoiding unnecessary use of resources, and minimising the environmental impact of the activities which are necessary to operate our business.

Carbon Offsetting

Lowering the carbon footprint of our services is extremely important to us, and  our data centres have committed to planting more than 400 trees over the coming year through sponsorship of the International Tree Foundation. By working to offset the carbon output of our operations, we enable our customers to use and provide environmentally sensitive hosting. Not only is our supply chain commited we have also commited to plant 5 oak trees per year with an ongoing challenge of reducing our own consumption.

 

Recycling

Spring Media Design makes efforts to avoid waste across the organisation, including company vehicles and within the office. All hardware is disposed of in accordance with WEEE regulations. We recycle paper, cans, cardboard and plastic.

We operate a paperless office. All customer communication and billing is carried out electronically, all faxes are received digitally. This is also true of internal communications, emails and memos are never printed unless absolutely necessary.

 

Hardware

Our Data Centres make use of a cold aisle containment system. By completely separating hot and cold air flows, cooling efficiency is improved by up to 40%, reducing the environmental footprint of our services. We make use of a managed power system to ensure that idle hardware does not consume resources unnecessarily. In-house, all of our PC's have been fitted with 80plus rated power supply units allowing for improoved efficiency of 80% plus throughout the day.
